Westlake Medical Research is comprised of a team of experienced medical professionals who take pride in their commitment to excellent patient care, quality research, and in meeting early enrollment goals with evaluable patients. We are dedicated to conducting Phase II-IV and post-marketing clinical research trials in a wide variety of areas, and are committed to providing our patients with excellent and personalized medical care. We specialize in assisting product sponsors bring new medications and devices to the marketplace.
Westlake Medical Research (WMR) started conducting clinical trials in the fall of 1995. Daria Schneidman, MN, FNP, acts as Clinical Director with over fifteen years experience in clinical research, and oversees all of our studies. Dr. Edward Portnoy, Principal Investigator, has an established practice in Westlake Village since 1978, and because he is an internist we have the capacity to conduct studies in a wide variety of areas. Our fields of research interest include allergy, cardiology, dermatology, devices, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology / women's health, managed care, nephrology, neurology, osteoporosis, OTC products, psychiatry, pulmonary, quality of life, rheumatology, sexual dysfunction, and urology. As we are in private practice, we are able to utilize central IRB. We have had one FDA inspection and a number of sponsor/CRO audits which we have successfully passed.
In addition to our Westlake Village site, we have a large patient referral network from four local communities, and from our local Free Clinic. We have contracted with a group of gastroenterologists who perform U.G.I. endoscopy or colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy for our studies, and have access to a local site with a Hologic DXA model QDR 4500-C that can be utilized for osteoporosis studies, and a as the need arises. We also have a number of specialists who have expressed a desire to participate in studies.

Westlake Medical Research is located in beautiful Westlake Village, California, a safe suburban community 45 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and 30 minutes from Burbank and Oxnard Airports. Nearby hotels include the Hyatt and Westlake Inn (with a golf course next door), just a few blocks from our site.
Take Century Boulevard South to the 405 Freeway North, to intersection with 101 Freeway North (it is actually west!). Exit at Lindero Canyon Boulevard, and turn left to cross bridge over the freeway to Agoura Road (the second traffic light). Turn right on Agoura Road to La Venta Drive (past the Golf course and Westlake Inn) and turn left to the second medical building on the left, 1250 La Venta Drive. There is ample parking. We are on the ground floor around the corner from Westlake Village Pharmacy, and are in Suite 101-A.
